🥭Mango Kick Shampoo Bar🥭
💡PRO TIP My general rule of thumb when formulating shampoo bars is
80-85% solid ingredients
15-20% liquid ingredients
1. SCI (Sodium COCOYL ISETHIONATE ) is a very gentle surfactant and it comes in a few forms - powder, beads, noodles. I used powdered SCI as it’s easier to incorporate. Please, wear a mask when working with this ingredient because it’s volatile and can make you cough and sneeze. Trust me, it’s not pleasant.
2. SCS (Sodium coco sulfate) also comes in different forms. I used the bead (pearl) type and it works great! It is less irritating than SLS and SLeS but SCS is not the most gentle surfactant. It is great for the oily scalp because it cleanses very effectively. If your scalp and skin do not like this surfactant use SLSA instead,
3. Cocoa butter moisturizes and strengthens hair, and prevents breakage. You can use mango butter if you like it more.
4. Cocamidopropyl Betaine is a gentle amphoteric surfactant that plays well with SCI and SCS.5. BTMS 50 is a cationic (positively charged) emulsifier that makes hair soft, conditioned, and manageable. You can use it in

As you can see it is very versatile so I definitely recommend adding this ingredient to your Formulator’s Lab.
6. Whetaquat and Hydrolized protein soften hair, help in detangling, they make your hair shine. You can use Honeyquat or Polyquartenium 7 instead of Wheatquat, I can not find Honeyquat in Germany but I know it’s a lovely ingredient for all kinds of formulaltions.

OPTIONAL: colorant. I used Orange water soluble dye from Auroradyz.

The 250g Batch makes about 3-4 shampoo bars.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Weigh the A phase and place it in a double boiler for better incorporation.
2. In a separate beaker mix your oil phase. Melt in a double boiler.
3. Add the cool-down phase to the surfactants and mix. I included a tiny amount of Blood Orange water soluble dye which I premixed with the cool-down phase.
4. Add the oil phase to the shampoo mixture and mix well. Knead like a dough until everything is well incorporated.
5. Mold your shampoo bars and let them dry for 24-48 hours before using.
💡When using 3D molds for shampoo bars you can line the upper and the bottom parts of your mold with a cling wrap, baking paper, etc to avoid sticking.
