Red Cherry & Christmas Inspired Lip Scrubs. Two Formulas
Lip scrubs are specifically formulated to remove dead cells from the lip area and they are also a great way to soften and smoothen your lips. There is an abundance of lip scrubs on the beauty market with some being better than others and I'm offering you two formulas for "even better than better" lip sugar scrub.
The cherry lip scrub formula is a little advanced because it requires a natural oil thickener called Dermofeel Viscolid (INCI Hydrogenated Rapeseed Oil) which creates soft and creamy gel textures. If you don't have it you can use more cocoa butter or stearic acid instead but the end product is going to be a little different.
a little goes a long way
The second lip scrub reminds me of a Christmas tree, decorated with bright festive lights. I feel the Christmas spirit in the air just by looking at this lip treat. Christmas inspired lip scrub formulation is very close to the first one. I used macadamia oil instead of cherry kernel oil, took out Dermofeel Viscolid, added more cocoa butter, and included a tiny little amount of peppermint essential oil. You can use a different essential oil instead (make sure you use it at a recommended safety rate). As an alternative adding some lip balm flavor oils also sounds lovely. This part is up to you.
I added a little bit too much mica, you can reduce it to as little as 0.2% or even less.
I used 0.2% Peppermint EO but you can use less.

RECIPE
I wrote the formula in %. It means that 1%=1g. I made a 50g Batch and I included the amounts for the batch of this size in the right column.
Costs: a 50 g batch of this sugar scrub costs me 0.63$+0.3(aluminum tin)=0.9.
If you want to reduce the cost of this scrub think about buying ingredients in bulk and using cheaper oils and butter.
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Prepare a water bath to melt your oil soluble ingredients.
2. Weigh the B phase in a glass beaker or a heat-proved measuring cup and place it on the water bath for about 5-10 minutes or until everything is completely melted.
3. Weigh the A phase ingredients and mix well.
4. Once your oil phase has melted through, take it out of the water bath and let it cool down for about 10 minutes. If you make a larger batch you might want to let it cool longer. Once the oil and butter mixture has cooled down you can mix it up with the exfoliants and your colorant of choice.
5. Add Vitamin E oil and Peppermint essential oil and mix to incorporate.
6. It takes about 3-4 hours for the scrub to thicken up and get all lovely and creamy like this.
Package, label, exfoliate or give to friends and family as a lovely home crafted gift.
Wasn't it pretty simple? Now let's move to the scrub number two. The procedure is pretty much the same. But let's speak about the ingredients a little. What makes this product to stand out are two ingredients: unrefined cherry kernel oil with a divine, sweet-sour, deep cherry aroma and our gel maker for oils Dermofeel Viscolid. If this ingredient is not available to purchase in your country try substituting it with Sucragel. You can read more about this ingredient and how to use it here. However, it isn't a1:1 substitution and your end product will have a different skin feel which is not a bad thing, maybe it's going to end up being your favorite product of all time. Who knows?

If that's not a perfect texture for a lip scrub then what is?
RECIPE
The procedure is the same weigh, melt, cool, add your exfoliants, add Vitamin E oil and your flavoring oil or essential oil. Package a nice container and exfoliate your lips to perfection. I use these scrubs about once per 2 days or whenever I feel that my lips feel dry and not smooth.
To use apply a small amount of scrub, exfoliate for about 1-2 minutes, and rinse with warm water. You can apply a lip balm or a lip mask afterward but I don't feel like I need to. These scrubs give my lips enough nourishment and smoothness without any additional help.
